5 Letter Words That End in H for Your Next Wordle Guess

If you’re searching for some new five-letter word options to guess next, there are quite a few words that end in the letter H. While these words might seem like an odd place to look, the letter H is pretty common, and so are many of the other letters that often follow it.

Some examples of such words include:

Wordle’s dictionary contains hundreds of valid words, but I’ve compiled the most relevant five-letter words ending in H to help you find your next guess. Dictionary.com lists five-letter words ending in H, but a dictionary listing doesn’t tell you whether Wordle currently accepts a word or uses it as an answer. Let’s start by grouping them according to the last two letters (since those will determine the final two letters):

There are other possibilities too. One example: “GLYPH” ends with YPH, but also includes the H. Another: “LYMPH” ends with MPH; “NYMPH” ends with MPH. Still others simply include the letter H without any particular pattern, such as “GROTH.”

You may want to use the list below to narrow down your selection of words. If you already have tile constraints in place, you can narrow this down even further by preserving green positions, moving yellow letters out of rejected positions and removing confirmed absent letters. Here are just a few hypothetical possibilities to consider.

Hypothetical subset: BEACH, BENCH, BEECH

All three match the constraint of having a green B in position one and a green H in position five.

The yellow A from position two is required outside position two, and BEACH is the only word within this hypothetical subset to place an A in position three.

Confirmed absent N: BENCH would otherwise be a candidate, but N has been confirmed absent.

Filtering by repeated letters

Another possible consideration is the presence of repeated letters. In Wordle, an answer can use the same letter more than once. An extra gray copy indicates that you guessed more copies of that letter than the answer contains. So a gray letter copy doesn’t always mean the letter is absent — another copy may be green or yellow.

Each green or yellow tile uses one letter copy. Any additional copies of that letter you guessed are considered to be gray.

This means that when evaluating whether a word should remain in your list, you must check for exact counts. For instance, if you know that there is exactly one E in the puzzle, then BEECH (two Es) and TEETH (two Es and two Ts) must be eliminated. Similarly, if you have determined that there is exactly one H in the puzzle, you can eliminate HATCH (two Hs, including the final H).
